Linking up with Lisa-Jo Baker on #5minute Friday and the prompt is Roots…..

My roots go way down deep into your words,

Therefore I am unperturbed by the storms, come what may.

Like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, my roots spread out.

In spite of the heat, my leaves are ever green.

Happy-go-lucky in the time of drought, ever yielding fruit,

Fruitful in my season,

Rooted and grounded in You.

5MinuteFriday with Thegypsymama ….

Write for 5 miniutes, no editing and all that.

and the word is…..Grasp!

Like exhaling, we all strive at grasping of more

More life, more joy, more time, more peace, more money, MORE!

So we rise up early and retire late, dusk to dawn in vain like the teacher says

We toil, we sweat to make ends meet as though it all depends on us

We grasp at straws, empty man-made promises and find no fulfilment

Until we grasp the Truth, the true purpose for our living

I am my father’s daughter

And a proud one at that too!

Walking down the aisle in his arms

Bold and confident of the future

Believing in me and urging me on towards my dreams

My backbone and confidant

Stamina and standby through the seemingly difficult times of my life

Guiding me through the years with his words of wisdom

(even though he sometimes doesn’t heed them for himself)

His blend of cheerfulness, stubbornness, warmth and yes even cynicism

Mustering every support for us even when it left him with nothing

Giving me the strength of his youth, indeed his wings to sail on

A strong support through the years;

modelling the love of a father

a signpost of the love of God

May God be with you and carry you

when you lack the strength to stand on your own

May God work things out for you

in a way that is greater than anything you ever thought possible

and fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him

Do you know the love of a father?

Risen as He said!

1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. 8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. 10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. 12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, 13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. 14 And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. 15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

Matthew 28:1-15(KJV)

Greatest Sista

Greatest Sista

The greatest sister in the whole wide world!

I remember today that day you took the flank for me

I remember your sincere faith in God

I remember your generosity, your kind heart

I remember your smile – the way it spreads across your face, the glint in your eyes also

Though far away, I remember you and I love you all the more

Thank you for making Christ real

Thank you for coming first

Thank you for leading the way

Thank you for being you!

You are the best!

The word of God on my lips this year is God talking!
Has He not said that not an iota of His word spoken will return to Him void?
Can I not also believe and therefore boldly speak His words and get the same results?
Can I not dare look into tomorrow and roar in the face of it?
Can I not as He said speak and move this mountain?
Who or what is this mountain that stands before me today anyway?
I believe and therefore boldly declare-
In the mighty name of our Lord Jesus Christ-
The walls of the mountains are broken down
The valleys are filled up
The crooked places are made straight
The limits are broken
I am free, unlimited, unhindered – free to become
The lines are fallen to me in pleasant places
I have a goodly heritage
I can do all things through the Anointed and His anointing
That which is born of the Word overcomes the world
I am born of His word
I overcome this world and its present reality
His word is incorruptible and abides forever
His words -quick and active do not fail.
They are sharper than any doubled edged sword
A lion has roared! Who wouldn’t be afraid?
The Lord God has spoken–who will not prophesy?

‘Cos beginning is never easy and there’s always a first time…

She was thrilled at the thought of getting on a bouncy castle, her first, but she won’t get on it. The other kids, laughing, shrieking and having the time of their life, beckoned on her to hop on the castle but my little one was transfixed. With a bit more urging from all of us, she made her first attempt  to climb but immediately resigned to sitting at the edge rather than the hopping like the others.

She soon finds that there’s no fun sitting in a bouncy castle. With a little more “you can do this, I know you can do this“,  she got up on the castle, managed to steady her feet and  was jumping and tumbling gleefully the next minute, oblivious of her initial fear and not heeding my caution cry. Talk about throwing caution to the wind!

And when it was time to take our leave, she was definitely not ready – she wanted more! ‘Endings are better than beginnings’Ecclesiastes 7:8 (MSG).

While I was thinking what trick to explore in getting my little fun-lover out of the bouncy castle, it struck me how it is that God is always calling us to greater things. Many times we choose to first test the waters, toes first and unsure, but He has called us to a life of faith.

Beginning is never easy. But beginning we must.Has God told you to do something? Can you trust Him enough to move at His say so?

Older n wiser

Its 5minute friday and am writing on the prompt ‘older’

Happy birthday dear gypsymama!

Your prompt today made me remember how when I was a little girl I always wanted to be older, grown up. I recall how I used to rummage through my mum’s closet for those under-wears, clothes and especially the high-heeled shoes that were way too big for me and made those unmistakable ‘clump’ ‘clump’ sound with each step. Pure delight! What about my experiment with makeup, my desire to talk like adults do and biggest of all my desire to make decisions for myself.

Now am all grown up… older… and my wishes have come true. I am older and wiser than I was when I was a little child. Amazing how sometimes these days I wish I were a little girl again without a worry or a care. Truth is with my heavenly Father, am still His little child and He wants me to live without any care!

I rejoice at hearing you are a year older today. As you celebrate, remember you are your Father’s child! Take the new year with all its treasures and promises!

Relishing the Beauty

I am beautiful in and out
Created in his very image – a display of His glory
Called out of darkness into His marvellous light
Beautiful ‘cos He’s in me and I in Him
Beauty resides in my home!
In the many soft wet kisses from my bubbly two year old aimed at my lips but landing squarely on my nose
Beauty is in her warm and awkward embrace as we sing along to Barney’s ‘I love you, you love me’
Beauty is what I see when my two daughters are snuggled in bed fast asleep
Beauty is what I feel when I’m all alone with Sam, my husband
Relishing the beauty of my life and the splendor of it all!
